Personnel at KTH using digital signature would facilitate their work efficiency, due to less printing and archiving of papers as well fewer meetings. The hypothesis at the start of the project was that the use of digital signature would decrease the time of waiting significantly. This study aims to implement digital signatures for one specific form, an application form for a thesis project. This process can in most cases delay the start up to two weeks. At KTH, a student must sign an application form with a regular ink-written signature to start a thesis project. Logs help to ensure the validity of the document and thereby increase the security provided by the digital signatures. This log contains information about who verified which document, does it have multiple parts that have been signed, does it need multiple signatures in order to be valid, and at what time and date was the document signed. In the document signature process, each time an individual verifies a signature attached onto a document a log entry is created.
In order to implement a digital signature technology some security aspects must be addressed and certain properties ensured. Instead of using classical handwritten signatures on documents, a digital signature can be more time efficient and have higher security. One technology that is increasingly adopted is digital signatures. Implementing new technology for certain tasks may increase both efficiency and security, resulting in a more sustainable work environment. With all new technology there are benefits, but new problems might also occur. Today both government agencies and companies struggle to keep up with the pace of the continuous change of technology. Then the program is not that old on the market there are still some things that can be improved. The differences depended more from which format the PDF where converted from. The result where put together in tables for an easy overview.ĭuring the work there were no big differences between the results from the different settings noticed. From a 3D model exported to these four formats they where converted to PDF in different settings to be compared in different points as information and size of the files. The examination is focusing on four formats: U3D, 3DS, DWG and DXF because they are the most common in the building industry seen from the architects’ way. To create this PDF you need Acrobat 3D installed on your computer but it only needs Acrobat Reader 7 or 8 to open it, and the Reader is free to download on the internet. The purpose is to find out if the program and the format work in a level that is suitable for the market. This report is about Adobe Acrobat 3D and their new PDF format witch can contain 3 dimensional models that are interactive.
